Other Supportive Services
Living with a better brain can feel unfamiliar at first. The Brain Train Center offers a unique program, blending individual psychotherapy with mind/body interactive programs which empower and educate. We offer one-on-one support on a weekly basis as you learn to live with a more stable brain. Believe it or not, this can take some getting used to - especially for people with long-standing histories of chronic dysfunction. A busy or “chatty” mind that suddenly becomes quiet can be unsettling. A previously “spacy” person used to disorganization and chaos may now have problems figuring out what to do with a “slowed-down” brain which now feels “boring.” Learn about your individual brain "profile" and how to take charge rather than react to stressful situations you face daily.
Stress management:
We integrate our mind/body component with psychotherapy to help clients define the changes they feel from session to session and suggest practical strategies for dealing with these changes.. For individuals experiencing overwhelming anxiety / depression and panic attacks we offer a variety of interactive programming to help reduce symptoms of "fight or flight" affecting stress impacted illnesses such as diabetes, heart disease and movement affected disorders.
Referrals to services in the community. The Brain Train Center helps you understand your body’s reactions to training and can help you connect with community resources which may help make your transition to “wellness” easier such as Interactive Metronome and The Irlen Center.
Coordination of care with other therapies. If you are being treated by a physician for a psychiatric or medical condition which warrants close medical supervision, The Brain Train Center will work closely with your doctor to get an accurate medical picture of your situation so an appropriate neurofeedback treatment plan can be made. With your permission, we can also provide periodic updated reports to your physician on observations of progress made in sessions where appropriate and provide information on how neurofeedback might be integrated into your overall treatment plan.
